Trauma of labor pain
persists as
drama in dreams.
After effects of Anesthesia
brings illusion to the world
From stretch marks to
stained stretch sheets
Postpartum addresses-
psychology
physiology
as the loose muscles
keep in tussle
to be back what then seemed normal.
Then slowly
realization and acceptance creep in
Motherhood is new to you.
The postpartum project was completed in three months, immediately after the birth of my second child. The site-specific installation was installed in the hospital ward where I recovered post-C-section. The idea was to reflect on the transformative phase of any new mom who experiences excitement and Pain simultaneously, lingering for days and coursing through the body like an electric current. In this specific work, the use of sequels addresses the labor and its psychological impact. These are basically lived moments during healing, exploratory, and an enriching process. It was our world of togetherness. Most of my works get inspiration from life experiences. An artist book is also part of the process.
